Over the last few weeks and during the holidays, Stage Three students have been busy writing their speeches for the Voice of Youth contest. The cluster final were held Thursday, 30th of July at St Andrews, Marayong. Prior to the final cluster contest teachers and students had the pleasure of listening to the speeches that the Year Six students had prepared.
The calibre was very high, which made it hard for the teachers and Mrs Schroder to decide on the final two contestants. The two finalists for VOY were Joseph Awadalla, with this speech ‘Can’t join them, confuse them,’ which left is all puzzled and Jacob Domars, with his speech ‘A Boy,’ that made his audience really think. The reserve was Tamzin Naidoo who wrote her speech about embarrassing moments. All three students presented their speeches at Monday morning in front of the school during assembly.
On Thursday 30th July, teachers and students attended the Voice of Youth cluster final at Marayong where OLA representatives Jacob Domars and Joseph Awadalla presented excellent speeches. The quality of speeches was high and the school were proud of both speakers. Jacob was awarded the ‘Social Justice Award’ for his speech titled ‘A boy’. This was a moving speech comparing his life to that of a boy going to war 100 years ago. Congratulations Joseph and Jacob!
