Year One, their teachers and lovely parent helpers went on an excursion to the Power House Discovery Centre in Castle Hill. We spent the day learning about the different types of transport that have been used in past and present. When we arrived the volunteers from the Discovery Centre greeted us and we were shown a presentation about the evolution of transport.
From there we split into our groups to complete three different activities. Our activities included a tour with our volunteer, who was able to give us lots of interesting information and answer any questions we had, building our own railway out of blocks and creating our own tickets to any destination we wanted.
After our lunch break we went back inside and had a scavenger hunt type of worksheet where we had to find the given transport and answer questions and activities about it. Overall, Year One had a fantastic time and behaviour was outstanding. This excursion really extended our knowledge on transport of the past and we recommend this excursion for future years.
