Our Lady of the Angels Primary students are picking up the 5 Cs of 21st Century learning in a fun manner.
The 5 Cs are for creativity, collaboration, co-operation, communication and critical thinking.
According to principal Eva La Rocca, in the primary grades, this is done through project based learning (PBL) while the kindergarten students use discovery learning.
“This style of learning develops skills in the areas of creativity, collaboration, co-operation, communication and critical thinking,” Ms La Rocca said.
Kindergarten’s Elijah Katzer chose the Australian bush for his environmental subject, because, “I love snakes”.
Year 5 students finished their PBL unit of the three states of matter with a day of cooking, heating, cooling and freezing all sorts of matter.
Ella Owen had fun turning her solids into liquid before adding heat to make solid again — in the form of a yummy cake.
