Congratulations to our Outstanding Achievement and St Francis award recipients for Week 5! An extra special congratulations to the Prac students we have had at OLA for the past 3 weeks. They received Outstanding Achievement awards today too, for the amazing job they have done!!

2025 Parramatta Diocesan PRIMARY Team Sport Trials Nominations are OPEN for the sports of: AFL, Hockey, Football (Soccer), Netball, Rugby League, Rugby Union, Softball & Touch. The expression of Interest registration window is OPEN for the sports listed above and nominations close on 7th February 2025. It is important to note that these trials are generally for those students that MUST demonstrate an ABOVE AVERAGE ability, HIGH LEVEL OF SKILL DEVELOPMENT, or in particular sports demonstrate REPRESENTATIVE playing experience in their nominated sport. In most sports, students should have experience playing regular competitions outside of school. Click on the link below or scan the QR code to nominate for 2025. A copy of responses to the submitted form will be emailed to the address provided in the EOI. One nomination per sport. This online registration is an EXPRESSION OF INTEREST ONLY and MUST be approved by the student's school after the closing date. The school approves students based on playing history and selection criteria for the student to attend the nominated trial or event. This week we acknowledged some of our amazing Mathematicians at OLA. This year we have had students from Years 2 to 6 participating in Maths Games, Maths Explorers and Maths Olympiad. Each week they have had to challenge themselves to solve maths problems and they also participated in a number of contests throughout the year. Well done to these students who were all presented with a certificate, and to those students who also received patches and badges for finishing in the top 25%, top 10%, or for being especially chosen by their teachers for their persistence throughout the year. An extra special congratulations to Lachlan in Year 6 whose results placed him as our 'Highest Achiever' at OLA for 2024! This is his second year in a row he has been our school's Highest Achiever- wow, what an achievement Lachlan!! We are very proud of you!! A big thank you to Mrs McBrien, Mrs Cordukes, and Ms Swain who helped facilitate these groups this year, to allow our students to have these wonderful opportunities!

OLA had a wonderful day playing basketball at Penrith last week. With all 6 teams working so well together and displaying admirable sportsmanship, we were able to have some wins, draws and loses. Year 6 boys, Year 6 girls and Year 3/4 Boys were running a tight ship until some of their last games which saw them finish 2nd overall in their pool. Year 5 boys placed 3rd overall and Year 5 girls finished 6th. A huge congratulations to our Year 4 girls who won all 7 games and came home with the Winning Pool medals. We’ve never seen so many smiles and giggles on the basketball court. A huge thank you to the parents who were able to help and cheer on our teams on the day!

Yesterday our Kindergarten 2025 students attended their 1st Orientation session. They had lots of fun meeting new friends, and learning about some of the things they will do when they come to 'Big School' next year!

~Remembrance Day~ Yesterday our Year 6 students and teachers led us in a reverent and prayerful service. We remembered all those who have served, and continue to serve, our country so that we may have freedom. We thanked God for the sacrifices these people have made, just like Jesus sacrificed His life for us. Lest We Forget.

On this day, the 11th day of the 11th month at the 11th hour, we will remember them. Thank you to our Year 6 team for their Remembrance Day liturgy. Each student wore a poppy with pride as we listened to the Ode and the Australian National Anthem as a community.
